Sensible priced water testing from Salamander

Salamander Engineering has introduced a competitively priced water testing service for central heating systems. Priced at £19.99 + VAT, the service offers full analysis, interpretation and recommendations at around a fifth of the price of comparable testing services.

Designed for ease of use by the heating engineer, the services requires two water samples to be placed into the bottles provided - one from the tap and one from the central heating system. These are then posted to us, along with a simple form, using the freepost packaging included in the pack.

Within a few days, the engineer receives a full analysis of the water condition via post or e-mail along with detailed interpretation of the results and recommendations for remedial action. A customer copy of the results and recommendations is also provided.

Salamander sales director Sue Clews commented: "When faced with an existing system, the heating engineer needs to know about the condition of the system before applying the appropriate treatment. Until now water testing has been very expensive but by teaming up with a leading laboratory and making use of the latest computerised analytical and reporting tools we are able to provide the same service at a fraction of the cost."

For example, the results might indicate that the system has not been treated with inhibitor and scale is beginning to form. There might also be traces of flux residues, indicative of poor cleaning in the past. In such a case, the recommended actions would be draining and flushing the system, treatment with a system cleaner, draining and flushing again and treating with inhibitor.

Test kits are available from Salamander on 0121 378 0952.
