Scale busting for combi boilers from Salamander
Salamander Engineering has launched Ultra, an advanced scale inhibitor designed specifically for dealing with the scale problems associated with combi boilers. Building on Salamander's proven zinc anode electrolytic design, Ultra uses an active switching mechanism to make it 20 times more efficacious than passive models.

The basis of Ultra's action is the controlled release of zinc ions into the circulating water, which leads to an electrochemical reaction to form zinc hydroxide. The zinc hydroxide causes scale crystals to form in clusters, which prevents them from adhering to surfaces.

Ultra has been tested in accordance with strict guidelines laid down by Loughborough University and is designed to work in all conditions. It is easy to fit, requiring no external power supply and, once fitted, can be left to provide ongoing protection.

"Combi boilers are particularly prone to scale problems and treating this chemically is disruptive and time consuming," explained Salamander sales director Sue Clews. "Ultra provides a fit-and-forget alternative that will extend the life of the boiler and improve its efficiency during that life," she added.
